WATCH NIGHT SERVICE FALLACY

Harriet Tubman2I had reasoned this out in my mind, there was one of two things I had a right to, liberty or death; if I could not have one, I would have the other.”  Mother Harriet Tubman

1 VillageFrom now on, I am dedicating all of my posts to Black African American females because a race can rise no higher than its’ women.

As in all of my posts, UNDERLINED WORDS are links.

ImaniHabari Gani? (What’s the News?)  Tomorrow ends another Kwanzaa celebration and because we are a Spiritual people, it is prudent that we close with the seventh principle of the Nguzo Saba which, is ImaniFaith.”

ChangeSadly, very few Black African Americans will be participating in the closing celebration feast of Kwanzaa because most will be partying and bull-shucking, while the rest will be participating in traditional “Watch Night Services.”

Jesus SavesEverything that Black Africans throughout the Diaspora know about Religion and Christianity was taught to us by White Europeans who embarked on a worldwide quest to mentally, physically and spiritually enslave ALL Black Africans throughout the Diaspora.

JesusWe can convince ourselves of anything, even a lie if we repeat it often enough.  The biggest lie that Black African Americans embrace today is the lie that Jesus Christ is a real person that actually died for all of our sins.

NapoleonNapoleon said, “What is history but a fable agreed upon?” Consequently, White American historians have convinced the world that President Abraham (Honest Abe) Lincoln was and is the best president the Black African American race has ever had, surpassing both President John F. Kennedy and President Barack H. Obama.

Massa preacherBecause of this lie, Black African American Christians engage in ritualistic behaviors that are based solely on traditions passed down to us from slavery, and the meanings have been lost in the translations.  Watch Night Service (As in all of my posts, underlined words are links.) is one such ritualistic tradition.

25 DollarsIn the minds of many Black African American Christians, they go to church on New Year’s Eve for the express purpose of worshipping Jesus Christ at the close of one year and the start of another.

Join UsThe average Black African American Christian is clueless when it comes to the true history of “Watch Night Services.”  The history behind this religious ritual has absolutely nothing to do with Jesus or Christianity.

EmancipationAnother lie we blindly embrace is that President Abraham Lincoln freed the slaves.  It is true that President Abraham Lincoln issued the Emancipation Proclamation in 1862, which was to go into effect at midnight on January 1, 1863.

Watch NightOn the night of December 31, 1862, many slaves in the Confederate States met in the slave quarters to sing and praise “Father Abraham Lincoln” for granting them their freedom.  The purpose of these gatherings was to “watch freedom” come upon their lives at the stroke of midnight, January 1, 1863; ergo, “Watch Night Service.”

Abes ProclamationAgain, many Black African Americans are ignorant about the reason for the issuance of the Emancipation Proclamation.  The average Black African American, when asked, will tell you that President Abraham Lincoln freed the slaves when he issued the Emancipation Proclamation, which is false.

Emancipation ProclamationThe purpose of the Emancipation Proclamation was to create confusion and disruption among the Confederate forces.  The Emancipation Proclamation only granted freedom to those slaves residing in the Confederate States (except Texas) and not the slaves residing in the Union States.

Civil War MapFurthermore, President Abraham Lincoln did not have any jurisdiction over slaves residing in the Confederate States because these states had seceded from the United States, ergo, the Civil War.  Since “Father Abraham” did not have the authority to emancipate slaves in the Confederacy, in essence, the Emancipation Proclamation was a worthless document.

Kiss LincolnThe other piece of mythology regarding President Abraham Lincoln was that he was the “Great Emancipator.”  In actuality, President Lincoln was just as racist as the rest of his peers of his era.

Lincoln Negro PolicyThis is evidenced by his saying the following: “I will say then that I am not, nor ever have been in favor of bringing about in anyway the social and political equality of the white and black races – that I am not nor ever have been in favor of making voters or jurors of negroes, nor of qualifying them to hold office, nor to intermarry with white people; and I will say in addition to this that there is a physical difference between the white and black races which I believe will forever forbid the two races living together on terms of social and political equality.  And inasmuch as they cannot so live, while they do remain together there must be the position of superior and inferior, and I as much as any other man am in favor of having the superior position assigned to the white race.  I say upon this occasion I do not perceive that because the white man is to have the superior position the negro should be denied everything.” –Fourth Debate with Stephen A. Douglas at Charleston, Illinois, September 18, 1858 (The Collected Works of Abraham Lincoln edited by Roy P. Basler, Volume III, pp. 145-146.)

Lincoln FeetBecause White America made the decision to assign President Lincoln as Black African Americans’ Great White Savior, they built the Lincoln Memorial for us to forever bow down at his feet.  Ironically, the Lincoln Memorial was dedicated on May 30, 1922 to a segregated audience.

Whenever, Black African Americans reached a point where we thought that we could no longer endure American racism, we were instructed to take our troubles to the feet of our Great Emancipator and “leave them there.”  With singing and prayer, our burdens will become just a little bit lighter.

Marian Anderson In spite of her greatness, Mother Marian Anderson went to the feet of the “Great Emancipator” and performed her concert when the White American Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR), who were also Christians, denied her permission to perform at Constitution Hall.

By the way, her concert took place on “Easter Sunday,” the holiest Christian holiday.

MLK and AbeBecause of White American racism, Baba Martin Luther King, Jr. led approximately 200,000 “Negroes” on “The March on Washington” in 1963 to the feet of this “Great Emancipator,” and delivered his “I Have A Dream” speech.

Poke in EyeToo many Black African American preachers and pastors are so stuck on traditions and rituals that they are clueless when it comes to the facts.  They would rather entertain their congregations with asthmatic tirades, shouting psychobabble, “speaking in tongues” and running up and down like the buffoons they are, than educate and enlighten them.

What is even worse is that their sheep attend these services faithfully, boasting about what a great sermon Pastor preached.  If asked what he/she preached on, many are unable to tell you because in actuality, they could not understand most of what he/she was saying, because it was all based on emotions, rather than factual knowledge.

Processionary Caterpillar 2Because of their quest to entertain their congregations, many Pastors have become “processionary caterpillars,” and are leading our people around in an endless circle.  They do not read and they are encouraging their congregations to read even less than they are.

Trump and PastorsIt is more important that their congregations purchase CDs of their sermons, (and Donald Trump’s book) which they have already heard than to pick up a history book on Black African Americans, which they have very little if any knowledge.

If they knew a modicum of Black African American history, they would readily see that participating in “Watch Night Services” is nothing more than a perpetuation of our own enslavement.

My Black is BeautifulPresident Abraham Lincoln never freed our ancestors and our addiction to the fictional Jesus will never wash us “whiter than snow,” because in the morning, our skin will still be “Black and Beautiful,” thank GOD ALMIGHTY!

I ask that should you read anything in my post that you can factually show me is false, please do so immediately.  Although I have made every effort to verify everything I write, I do make errors.

Common SenseOh, what a blessing it is that my people do not read, think or use Common Sense says the Pastors, Pimps and Politicians.
